During the last week of June, Holy Word held its annual summer outreach event at the Austin campus. As we discuss success connected with outreach events we, like many times before, like to talk about numbers. So, here are some numbers. More than 80 children joined us in discovering God’s good gifts through the Passport to Peru VBS. The children were from Holy Word families, families from other churches and we even had a few who have no church home. With that many children comes many hours put in by our volunteers and those who helped make this years VBS possible. Over 30 people gave their time and energy to help keep these kids safe, focused, and having fun.
Each of the five days were centered on a simple, yet amazing truth of how God blesses us in so many ways by giving us things like comfort, patience, peace, love, and joy. We had four different stations set up, each filled with songs, snacks, or stories that made each day fun and exciting for the kids.
Our most important number, during this outreach event, was the number one. We engaged 30 teens and adults to tell 80+ little souls that they have one God and one Savior who loves them so much that He died for them. Without that one Savior, this opportunity would not have been possible. We are truly thankful for our volunteers and parents for giving their time to help, but we are even more thankful that we have this amazing message to share about the amazing Savior that we have!
